Great Brook Valley CHC renamed in honor of the late Edward M. Kennedy
LATEST NEWS
With the first anniversary of the passing of Senator Ted Kennedy, our client, the (former) Great Brook Valley Health Center, has changed its name to the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center. The name change is a culmination of an 18-month strategic planning process that galvanized new mission, vision and values statements for this 13-site community health organization of which the (former) Framingham Community Health Center is a part. CEO Toni McGuire stated “We feel honored to be part of an organization that will bear the name of the father and architect of the Community Health Center movement.” The Kennedy family is very excited about this. As Senator Kennedy's Web site notes: "Today, as a direct result of Senator Kennedy's vision as a 34-year-old, first-term senator, 20 million low-income Americans receive access to quality primary care at 1,200 community health centers across all 50 states and U.S. territories. This success was the very beginning of Senator Kennedy's long journey to make health care a right for all Americans, not a privilege of the few." Ms. McGuire related that “This is a wonderful and unexpected end to our 18-month planning journey! We embrace it with pride and gratitude, and the knowledge that our new name is not only a name, but a call to action for us to carry on and increase our work as a model community health center.” We wish them great luck, and are pleased to be serving the Edward M.
